Marlene Cummins

TYPE: EXHIBITION

SPACE: WINDOW BOX

WHEN: All day 9 Jul 2018 – 22 Jul 2018

Marlene Cummins' work explores her relationship with her ancestral country in Queensland and her lifetime as an activist for the betterment of the Aboriginal people in this country. She is also a strong believer in women's rights and is a vocal supporter for the Prevention of Violence Against Women movement.

This exhibition responds to the NAIDOC Week 2018 theme, 'Because of Her, We Can', celebrating the invaluable contributions that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women have made – and continue to make – to our communities, our families, our rich history and to our nation. The window box will feature three portraits of women: of the Redfern community (Mary), and of our history and nation (Rosalie Kunoth-Monks and Dame Marie Bashir).

Opening Wednesday 11th July | 6–8pm.
